Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire resides in a quiet area of Montreal Island known as West Island. This part of the island known as West Island can be confusing for those who aren't familiar to its significance. It is often believed that it's an island to the to the west of Montreal, but it's actually the West Island encompasses everything between the cities that are Lachine and West. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on the West Island. But this isn't the truth. Brugel became an aspiring young lady within Courtice Ontario, just outside Oshawa. She was determined to be professional, however because of a huge increase in her height, she outgrew every dance partner she met. The article she wrote about her experience revealed published by The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall, even when she wears heels. Once I was bigger than my male counterpart and stopped dancing, I quit. A lot of dancers go from dancing to acting. For the Brugel family, it was their drama teacher who encouraged her to go in this direction. It was the teacher who recommended she pursue a role for the school's annual production. The teacher who suggested she take on a part in the annual school production. Following her award of the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she attended York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2000. Her career spans 20 years and she's been in over 60 productions that have screened on large screens and smaller ones. The most well-known role she played was as Rita (pictured below) in the television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian on the Season 1 The Handmaid's Tale cast and only seen occasionally was the only Canadian.
